April 2024: All content below last edited on 22 May 2020. It is not news that the COVID pandemic asked many people to turn their attention to addressing new and unique problems. This was some of the work that I contributed when discussing COVID and its impacts ca. 2020. Perhaps some of this information remains useful in reflection. ~ DLT

OVERVIEW

I am primarily working as a secondary educator in Melbourne, Australia. As we prepare for face-to-face teaching in the coming month, we require research that will inform our decisions on if and how music rehearsals can run safely. This project is meant to fill that need.

At 18 May 2020, I began a literature review focused toward:

  • inherent risks in music rehearsal
  • risk management
  • risk mitigation

I am not rosy-goggles about the prospects for music rehearsal post-pandemic. We are not post-pandemic now, despite any statements suggesting otherwise.

Content snapshots are available. Download and take/use what is useful to your own research.

If you would like to contribute, please contact me. I will provide you access to a shared folder where you can contribute your work. Current contributors include individuals at Monash University, Melbourne University, Wesley College (Secondary), the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and others. This represents performers and educators across instrumental, choral, professional, education, and community music.

Even in this environment, I wish you all the best in your music making.
